Tourism plan input wanted
Whanganui & Partners – Whanganui District Council’s economic development agency – is calling for final community feedback on its Destination Marketing Plan 2020-2030. Paul Chaplow, Whanganui & Partners’ strategic lead – visitor industries, says, “Destination management brings together different stakeholders to develop a well-managed, sustainable visitor destination. It’s a way for us to identify the social, economic, cultural and environmental risks and opportunities and plan our future around them.” In addition to providing a roadmap for developing Whanganui as a destination, Paul Chaplow says having a destination management plan opens up opportunities to attract future funding to Whanganui. “Access to this funding requires having a destination management plan in place.
